5th Grade Explorers 2
Unit of Study: Brain
This year, the 5th grade students' scope, or big idea, is perception and how it is centered around the brain and incorporated into animation. The first unit the
students will focus on is the Brain Unit that builds on 5 skills: creative thinking, critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, and communication. This unit has a strong science content connection with activities and extensions that apply to many content areas. The second unit the students will study is animation. This unit takes students on a tour of the process of animation through the development of a series of productions associated with in-depth content explorations. Additionally, each time we meet, the 5th grade students will enhance their critical thinking and creative thinking skills through numerous activities. The students will also participate in teacher guided/student guided literature circles and enhance their research skills as they create the TMS News Show.
